Dr Ilik Saccheri studies the role of genetic factors on population dynamics, having been the first to demonstrate that inbreeding can magnify the risk of population extinction. More generally, his expertise lies in the integration of genetic and ecological information to study evolution. Butterflies and moths are the main subjects for his studies. He teaches population genetics, conservation biology, and ecological field techniques. |
